From card to chart
The “Light” card on the dashboard is now clickable and opens the dedicated BH1750 sensor history.
The instant lux value is useful, but the real interest comes from observing the trend over time: peaks, sudden drops, gradual transitions and variations between day and night.
What lux values tell
Ambient light is one of the most narrative data points in Ivrea Observatory. A low value may indicate night, shade, overcast sky or transition towards sunset. A high value may tell of direct sun, clear sky or strong diffuse brightness.
For this reason, the historical view does not classify lux values as “normal” or “high” in absolute terms: it interprets them as light conditions.
A simple but useful data point
The light history helps read the day better and connect numerical data, SkyCam and sky conditions.
It is also a way to check node stability: if values stop changing or remain fixed for too long, something in the sensor, Wi-Fi or ingest chain deserves attention.
