It all started with a question
For a long time it was only an idea. The desire to observe the sky, collect environmental data and better understand what happens around us had been there for a while, but without a concrete form.
13 May 2026 is the day I consider the beginning of the project. Ivrea Observatory did not exist yet, there was no internet domain and no defined roadmap. There was only the curiosity to see whether it was possible to build something of my own.
More laboratory than product
The initial goal was not to create a professional weather station or a perfect website. The idea was to build a small personal laboratory to experiment with electronics, software, meteorology and astronomy.
The first steps were simple: collect data, imagine a dashboard, understand how to store measurements and verify that everything worked reliably.
The first building blocks
In the following days, the first elements that are now part of the project began to appear: environmental sensors, historical database, monitoring dashboard and initial experiments with ESP32 and Raspberry Pi.
Many things did not work on the first try. Some not even on the second. But that very phase of tests, errors and corrections defined the character of the project.
Before First Light
When everything began, I did not yet know that a few weeks later the name Ivrea Observatory would be born and the project would be published online on the summer solstice.
13 May remains the true starting point: the moment when an idea stopped being just a thought and began to take shape.
